Gmail has a set a different bar for all the applications that try making the emailing life easier.
Hence, people always expect Gmail to deliver some good products and services. One such attempt is Inbox, which received a mixed response. Some of the public stand with a positive feedback with the bundled emails and undo-send options; whereas few people call the new update of Gmail unintuitive and frustrating. Let us know why people still prefer Gmail over Inbox for day to day emails.
Organizing the Emails
The Gmail app already categorizes every email properly. The promotional emails go to the social promotions tab. The emails and updates from the social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Likedin, Pinterest and the rest of similar emails, all see themselves landed in the social promotions page. The discussion room is seen in the forums page, the daily updates for the applications or services you use is categorized in the Updates tab and the promotional emails from various estores, online bookings through railways or airplanes are picked and put in the promotions tab by Gmail. When such facilities are provided, Gmail must have not introduced Inbox with a feature called as ‘bundles’. You can create labels according to your needs and leave the rest to just lie in the primary tab instead of bundling everything.
The Issues
Though bundling up the emails is a good option, but if you do not see any bundle more often, you can lose up missing some of the emails the emails that you would like to see in your primary tab of mailbox. Moreover, you can even hide some of the emails from the bundles to avoid them seeing in the future. You have to check the bundles manually but that defeats the bundling purpose of organizing emails in bundles.
The Management of Emails
Gmail has updated Inbox with four new features such as done, sweeping, pinning and snoozing. The ‘done’ feature is like archiving the emails. They are not ordered in the way you receive them but the way you mark them in the bundle of Inbox. This actually mishmashes everything in the Inbox as the oldest emails can be topped by the newest ones.
Sweeping can delete an email. Earlier, sweeping meant archiving; however, if you have the habit of sliding your finger through every email, not deleting those emails would be a difficult task to perform. Pinning keeps the email pinned to the inbox. No matter what disaster your inbox faces, it will still be pinned. Snoozing any email will keep the message invisible till the time you have picked it to alarm you.
Reminders to Your Emails
Reminders are easy to work with as they remind you of a specific task such as taking an appointment or emailing at a specific time. However, they get lost as more emails fall in your email box. You need to search for the entire inbox to get one reminder to the top. Instead you can just use a Google app that can serve the purpose of reminding you with a to-do list. However, if you still want to use the Reminder feature of Inbox, you can pin it to the mailbox for prioritizing it.
Though Inbox can help being your personal assistant, it is difficult to understand how to use it at first. Bundling complexes everything; however, it even allows you to search for the right email immediately. You do not have to type in the keywords in the Search button and run through thousands of emails with the same keywords every time.
You need a Gmail account to use the Inbox application. You can have it on Chrome’s browser introduced by Google and Mac systems. If you are a person who likes organizing things, you will surely like Inbox, otherwise prefer Gmail over Inbox. Inbox is a little unintuitive; you will have to invest a lot of time in understanding the functioning of Inbox and all of its features. In case you do not understand how to use it, you can always take the help of Google to come to a conclusion. You can rely easy storing of bills, travel plans and updates of shopping and delivery of items.
